Welcome New Members of the Association
歡迎傑出理大校友協會新會員
PolyU presented the “Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award 2024” to four distinguished graduates on 16 December 2024: Mr Chiang Tung-keung; Dr Shen Peng; Mr Banting Sze Wai-pan; and The Hon. Perry Yiu Pak-leung, MH, JP. All of them have joined the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Association. They were warmly welcomed by the Board of Directors at the Cocktail Reception held on the same day of the award presentation ceremony.
理大於2024年12月16日舉行「傑出理大校友獎2024頒獎典禮」，頒發榮譽予四位優秀畢業生：蔣東強先生；沈鵬博士；施偉斌先生；以及姚柏良議員，MH，JP。為歡迎各位獲獎者加入傑出理大校友協會，本會於頒獎典禮同日特設酒會，一眾新會員獲董事局成員熱情招待。 |
OPAA Master Class 2024: Achieving Entrepreneurial Success
傑出理大校友協會大師班2024：創業成功之道
The Association successfully hosted the "OPAA Master Class 2024: Achieving Entrepreneurial Success" on 27 June 2024, attracting broad participation from over 120 alumni, students, and staff of PolyU. During the speaker forum, OPAA 2015 Awardee, Dr the Hon. Johnny Ng Kit-chong, MH, JP, shared his journey from engineer to venture investor and encouraged young entrepreneurs to embrace the "zero starting point mindset", which emphasises innovation over resting on past achievements. OPAA 2023 Awardee, Mr Fang Bing, highlighted the importance of innovation and market awareness for start-up success, advising young people to pursue their dreams with a solid understanding of the environment and opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship. Moderated by Ir Dr Samson Tam Wai-ho, JP, the event concluded with a lively panel discussion joined by Ir Prof. Alfred Sit Wing-hang, GBS, JP. As President of the Association, Dr Tam reaffirmed OPAA's commitment to supporting young alumni and students in launching their own businesses, encouraging them to reach out to the Association for various resources.
2024年6月27日，協會以「創業成功之道」為題舉辦講者論壇，吸引超過120位理大校友、學生和教職員參與。2015年傑出理大校友獎得主吳傑莊議員、博士，MH，JP回顧自己從工程師到創業投資人的發展旅途，勉勵新一代創業人士以「零起點」心態持續創新，不要只滿足於過去的成就。2023年傑出理大校友獎獲獎者房冰先生則分享創新思維和市場意識的重要性，建議年輕人多探索環境、發掘機會，對實現創業夢有莫大幫助。問答環節由譚偉豪博士、工程師，JP主持，並請來薛永恒教授、工程師，GBS，JP擔任嘉賓，期間參加者積極討論，氣氛熱烈。作為會長，譚博士強調協會致力提攜有志創業的青年校友及學生，歡迎各位與協會保持聯繫，在創業路上獲得更多支持。
Outstanding PolyU Alumni Association Shenzhen Visit
傑出理大校友深圳行
On 9 November 2024, the Association collaborated with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Shenzhen Research Institute (SZRI) and successfully hosted a visit to Shenzhen. The visit began with a tour of SZRI, where the delegation explored the latest advancements in research and the various support it offers for youth entrepreneurship in the Greater Bay Area. The delegation also visited the headquarters of EcoFlow, a rising unicorn founded by Dr Bruce Wang Lei, an OPAA 2022 Awardee, and attended a dinner with leaders of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Pearl River Delta Alumni Network. Both alumni associations discussed deepening relationships and identifying ways to support start-ups and the entrepreneurial ecosystem, striving to create a stronger impact in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area and beyond.
2024年11月9日，協會聯同香港理工大學深圳研究院舉辦「傑出理大校友深圳行」。代表團首站參觀深圳研究院，詳細了解這個理大深圳基地於產學科研方面的最新發展，以及為青年創業提供的各種支援。代表團亦到訪了由2022年傑出理大校友獎得主王雷博士創立的獨角獸企業正浩創新EcoFlow，並於晚上與香港理工大學珠三角校友會的領導共進晚餐，兩個校友會就深化關係、支援初創、完善創業生態系統等展開交流，期望能在香港以至大灣區發揮更大影響力 |

| Over the past year, the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Association has made significant strides in various areas, yielding encouraging results.
As a vital part of the PolyU community, we are committed to empowering our students. A major highlight was the “OPAA Master Class 2024: Achieving Entrepreneurial Success” held in mid-year, where two esteemed members, Dr the Hon. Johnny Ng Kit-chong, MH, JP, and Mr Fang Bing, generously shared their entrepreneurial journeys and imparted valuable insights on entrepreneurship to the younger generation, greatly benefiting all attendees.
Furthermore, the Association continued to actively contribute to University events. The “PolyU Alumni Homecoming Day 2024” was the largest alumni gathering in recent years; many outstanding alumni not only sponsored this annual signature event but also participated in organising the “Outstanding PolyU Alumni Jogging Tour”, guiding participants to rediscover their alma mater in a fresh and engaging way.
We remain dedicated to deepening bonds among our distinguished graduates through a series of networking events. This year’s “OPAA Mixer” invited recipients of the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award at Faculty/School and Department levels, who enjoyed sharing their backgrounds, experiences, and industry developments during fruitful exchanges. The Association also visited the Customs and Excise Department and reached out beyond Hong Kong to establish connections with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Shenzhen Research Institute, Mainland start-ups, as well as alumni leaders in the Pearl River Delta, further aligning with the Greater Bay Area.
I am confident that as we move forward, we will continue to collaborate and create new opportunities for the thriving development of the Association, setting an exemplary standard for alumni and the entire PolyU community.
過去一年，傑出理大校友協會在不同方面均取得進展，成果令人鼓舞。
作為理大社群重要的一份子，我們積極提攜後輩。年中舉辦的「大師班2024：創業成功之道」便是一大焦點，兩位會員吳傑莊議員、博士，MH，JP及房冰先生不吝分享精彩的企業家之旅，親自向師弟師妹傳授創業錦囊，眾人都獲益良多。
此外，協會一直身體力行，為大學活動出一分力。「理大校友日2024」是近年最大型的理大校友活動，一眾傑出理大校友除了贊助這項年度焦點盛事，更參與籌辦「『傑出理大校友』慢跑之旅」，當天帶領參加者以嶄新方式，發掘母校的新舊建設。
另一方面，我們接連以一系列聯誼交流活動，加以凝聚歷屆得獎者，致力拓展網絡。本年度的「OPAA Mixer」廣邀學院及學系層面的傑出理大校友獎得主參加，大家互相分享背景、經驗、行業發展等，收穫豐富；協會亦組織外訪活動，不但參觀了海關總部，而且走出香港，跟香港理工大學深圳研究院、內地初創企業，以及珠三角校友領袖建立聯繫，進一步與大灣區接軌。
我深信，未來我們定會繼續共同努力，為協會的蓬勃發展創造新機會，持續為校友以至整個大學社群樹立卓越典範。 |
